Gridvara maps the world's AI computing infrastructure — 500+ AI data centers and GPU clusters across 36 countries — on an interactive 3D globe. Each point is a physical facility; its size is proportional to the site's power capacity, from megawatt research clusters to gigawatt-scale frontier campuses like xAI Colossus 2 (946 MW) and the Anthropic-Amazon New Carlisle campus (910 MW).
Data comes from two open Epoch AI databases: Frontier Data Centers (satellite-imagery and permit-based tracking of the largest AI campuses) and GPU Clusters (500+ clusters identified from public reporting), both licensed CC-BY 4.0. Facilities in China are anonymized at source with rounded specifications. Epoch estimates its data covers roughly 15–20% of global AI compute — the real buildout is far larger than what's shown here.
The globe is rendered with three.js: landmass drawn from Natural Earth vectors onto a canvas texture, sites rendered as GPU point sprites with additive blending, and a bloom post-process pass for the glow. Labels run on a separate 2D canvas projected from the same camera. Frontier-tier campuses pulse.
